About Down Dog Lodge

Down Dog Lodge is a locally owned, cage-free dog daycare and boarding facility in El Segundo, CA. We opened our doors in 2017 with a single focus: to give dogs in the South Bay a safe, social, and genuinely enjoyable place to be when their people can’t be with them. Our facility, our team, our Temperament Test process, and our 24/7 staffing; everything circles back to that same idea.

We’re not a franchise. We’re not a chain. We’re a locally owned business run by people who love dogs and care deeply about the South Bay community we serve!

Located just minutes away from LAX on El Segundo Boulevard x Sepulveda, Down Dog Lodge is a 12,000 sq. ft. cage-free facility with room to run. We have separate indoor play areas for small and large dogs: Mini Lodge for the smaller pups and our Big Pen for the bigger dogs, with both areas offering indoor and outdoor access throughout the day. In the warmer months, we add pools to our outdoor patio and the fun gets turned up a notch.

Our facility is staffed around the clock, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including every holiday. There is always a dedicated team member on-site with our dogs.

‘Cage Free’ is at the core of how we operate. Dogs in our care are only isolated during feeding and if an owner requests a crate for overnight. They move through open, supervised play spaces, rest when they want to, and interact at their own pace. Every dog in our facility is temperament-tested for group compatibility, which means the environment your dog enters is one we’ve worked hard to cultivate.

We take our responsibility seriously. Our team is trained in dog body language, group dynamics, and early intervention so that small tensions are addressed before they become anything more.
